Tatuaje la Casita Criolla
A Connecticut Puro with Amazing Notes of Brown Sugar, Nutmeg, and Cocoa
Pre-light characteristics:
The foot of the cigar gives off a pleasant scent of brown sugar mixed with some nutmeg. The wrapper has the aroma of brown sugar and cocoa. The pre light draw tastes of nutmeg and cedar.
The First Third:
The draw was tasty right from the start with a creamy cedar, brown sugar and an ever so light and smooth white pepper. The aftertaste gives off a sweet tobacco flavor that remains creamy and a bit nutty. The draw has a tiny bit of resistance but gives off plenty of smoke and is still effortless for the most part. The aroma is awesome. I definitely get that nice brown sugar note with sweet cedar in the air. The ash is excellent...making it to a couple inches before falling off. The burn is perfectly even.
The Second Third:
The taste remains about the same but with a clean earthiness and light hints of wood coming into the picture. I also get more of the nutmeg coming through now. A nice creamy finish with each puff. The burn and ash remain excellent.
The Last Third:
Towards the end of the cigar a lot more of the earth and woody elements come through. Personally, these aren't my favorite tastes but this cigar continues to intrigue me with the smooth and creamy cedar notes on the finish.
Conclusion:
The overall strength profile is medium and it's a very good cigar. Total burn time was about 1-hour. I would rate it a conservative 88. Would I run out to buy a box right now? Not immediately. But, I'm glad that I have 4 more left from my 5-pack and would love to see how this tastes a few months down the road after more aging. If these age nicely, I would definitely be inclined to pick up a box. I smoked this first one after about 3 weeks in the humidor. If you like the tastes and aromas I listed then you should definitely try this cigar. It may just be your next favorite.
